We cannot stay forever on the “mount of transfiguration,” baking in the light of our mountaintop experience (see mark 9:1-9). But we must obey the light we received there; we must put it into action. When God gives us a vision, we must transact business with Him at that point, no matter what the cost. When are our hearts do burn within us with those feelings.
Otherwise, we will act out our emotions at the lowest level, on the thing that pulls our heartstrings. For we have learned, now, that our emotions don’t just dissipate by themselves. They don’t just go away.
To live at our highest and best – to live according to our strengths and values, we must be in touch with how we feel. We must notice when we are touched by something. It is in those moments we discover the pearls of our wisdom about ourselves. They are touchstones of the path that is meant for us. “Go here.” “Say this.”
But here I speak of moments of inspiration that are highest. When we know we have just touched the face of God. We are “full of” “spirit.” Our energy spikes. Our endorphins surge. We feel an electric connection with Something greater. It is in those moments that we feel more powerful. Sometimes as if we could do anything. Be anything. We believe!
Having the self discipline to follow through with the decisions we have made during those times is the challenge. Having the courage to believe ENOUGH – to follow through is the goal. “When God gives us a vision, we must transact business with Him at that point, no matter what the cost.” (Oswald, Mar 22 about Mark 9/transfiguration)
IF our faith is in the actions, we will fail. For the actions will never derive consistent or dependable results, except in one way. We will know we did what we believed was right. However, if our faith is in the Source then we will succeed every time. For then we will remember why we do it. We do it because He IS reliable. He will always pull us out of the ashes if it burns. We may be scorched. But we will be more whole than ever.
